• Inside Retail, Top 50 People in Ecommerce 2015, 2016 • Non- Executive Director, NORA (National Online Retailers Association) • Telstra Business Women's Award Winner, 2010 + 2014 I’m Founder & CEO of Adore Beauty, Australia’s leading online shopping destination for skincare, haircare and makeup. In 1999, with just $12,000 and two little known cosmetic companies on board, I started Adore Beauty from a garage in Melbourne at the age of 21. Since then it has grown to 160+ brands, 12,000+ products, and $25m+ in annual revenue. In 2015 I sold a 25% share of my business to Woolworths, then bought it back in 2017. With over 17 years experience in beauty e-commerce, I can provide advice about online retailing, supplier/partner/investor negotiations, people management, stock management, digital marketing, financial management and scaling. 100% of my call fee from Top Expert will be donated to Oxfam's Women's Empowerment projects. I'm mostly available for calls on Fridays.
I’m a serial entrepreneur. I started 16 businesses before founding Caradvice.com.au, which I recently sold for $35M to Nine Entertainment. I initially started CarAdvice as a blog and in ten years grew it into a nationwide car advice, review and news site, employing 40 people and turning over $15M a year. We’ve built CarAdvice through creating genius content that people want to watch and share, owning SEO and selling targeted advertising on the site. I’m interested in providing advice to businesses and startups, but be warned – I’m very honest, and won’t hold back from telling you my honest opinion.

Dear fellow Entrepreneurs, ••• I offer a "No Questions Asked" money back guarantee service. Read more. ••• I have been running my own companies since 1996. My brother, sister and brother-in-law joined me in 1998. Although ownership is mostly family-owned we run the company like any corporation and have a stellar executive who hold key posts in the business. The leadership of the family, management and responsibilities ultimately rest with me but it is most definitely a collaborative approach that is extremely effective and successful. Booktopia was started on 4th February 2004 (the same day as Facebook - we didn't know that until we celebrated our 10th birthday together). It began as a side project with a budget of $10 per day while my family and I were doing internet marketing. It took 3 days to sell the first book. One book was the total sales for the day. By the end of the first year we were doing $100K per month. Before starting Booktopia in 2004 we owned a recruitment agency, a chat software business, and an internet marketing consultancy. I started my career as a computer programmer and then a computer salesman. Today, Booktopia employs 150 people and sells one item every 7.8 seconds. We ship 18,000 books per day or around 4 million books per year. We operate from a 13,000 sqm Headquarters and Distribution Centre in Homebush, Sydney stocking 130,000 titles across 700,000 units that are ready-to-ship. Revenues for 2017 are $100+ million up from $80m in 2016 and $50m in 2015. We have had no external investment. All of our success has been organic growth. We simply sold more books and used that money to hire more people, write more software, invest in automation, move to bigger premises and hold more stock. It would have to be one of the biggest bootstrapped online store success stories in Australia as many of our peers have received significant funding to grow. Booktopia has won many business awards including the Telstra Business Awards for NSW Medium Sized Businesses in 2014, Book Retailer of the Year in 2016 and 2017, Power Retail's Top 100 websites, Deloitte's Technology Fast 50, the Top 20 for Smart Company's list of top Australian online retailers and ranked in the BRW Fast 100 companies for the 7 years, the only to ever accomplish this feat. My strengths are in sales, marketing, running family companies, bootstrapped businesses, creating value in a business, product logistics and distribution, as well as e-commerce, leadership, and business management. Personal Guarantee: It is true, I can access decades of business experience and that will most likely be helpful when we talk, but more importantly when I meet people I have access to an unending fountain of ideas and within a few minutes can come up with strategies, concepts, or initiatives that will focus, motivate and inspire you. Therefore I have every confidence that you (and as many members of your team) and I, can have a super brainstorming session and the time we spend together will be extremely profitable. To give you a sense of comfort around the investment you will make with me I can offer a "No Questions Asked" money back guarantee on my service. Remember... be prepared to write everything down and preferably record our session so you can review it later! Looking forward to hearing what you are about to accomplish. All the best, Tony

Over 15 years experience taking ideas off the back of a napkin to launching them globally. In 2003, I took a $20,000 loan turned it into a global business. The brand I built was called PetLoo & we manufactured and distributed a range of pet products globally. In 2013 the brand and company was acquired by PetSafe. You can read all about the story by Googling "Tobi Skovron, PetLoo, Inc Magazine", but it's your quintessential entrepreneur journey and with a happy ending to boot: researching an idea, taking out a loan, 2 years spent on R&D, scaling to the US, hustling, growing, eating cereal for dinner and negotiating a sale. After the sale, I stayed in the US and worked for the now parent company, as well as founding ZingyPet – a marketplace app for dog walking. The app won Silicon Beach 2015 Best Overall App, has 800+ dog walkers and 23,000 customers through out southern California. I came back to Australia end of 2016 and have since Co-Foundered CreativeCubes.Co with plans to scale it nationally. I'm passionate about the thriving community and want to positively impact the ecosystem. I invest in other startups, sit on a couple of Boards and love providing advice to other entrepreneurs who have the drive and determination to succeed. I can provide advice about business planning, strategy, user-experience design and delivery, go-to-market strategy, product dev and commercialisation, exporting, fund raising – the whole end-to-end business process. Here are just some of my experience and achievements: • Winner of Australian Entrepreneur of the Year Under the Age of 30 (2008) • Winner of Australian Pet Product of the Year (2006) • Winner of New Inventors, People’s Choice Award (2006) • Australian Institute of Export - TOP 50 (2007) • International Design Award (2008)
In 1994 I developed Aromababy, the world’s first baby skincare brand combining the use of natural and organic ingredients with neonatal research. The launch of Aromababy created a new category in the Australian retail space. Aromababy is now sold online including with Adore Beauty and in hundreds of stores across Asia Pacific, including Mothercare Asia and Watsons Pharmacy China. Aromababy is also used in select hospitals and resorts. We are the only Australian natural baby skincare brand with registered products in China - essential to sell in retail stores there. I often present at events in relation to accomplishing business in the Asia region. I regularly travel to Hong Kong, Singapore and China providing mother and baby wellness workshops to health professionals and consumers. I have over 20 years experience in product development, exporting and building an award-winning brand. I hold a Diploma in Aromatherapy and am a trained Infant Massage Instructor.
Prior to founding a VC firm, Bondi Born – a luxury swimwear label, and being on the leadership team of FairFax, I started my career 25 years ago in global ad agencies where I ran the advertising for household brands like Coca-Cola, Weet-Bix, Pantene and IBM. I discovered I have a brain wired for strategic thinking and excelled at brand strategy. How do consumers think about brands? How do you differentiate a brand and develop a unique positioning with distinct values and personality so that consumers come to you, transact and stay loyal? In 1996 I set up one of the first dedicated Digital Marketing agencies, Expanded Media (XM), for Australia’s then largest ad agency, George Patterson Bates. I was responsible for growing revenue from zero to $3m within 12 months for blue-chip clients like Optus, Ninemsn, David Jones and St. George helping them create their very first websites and online advertising campaigns. I joined Fairfax in 1998 and in the subsequent twelve years, I sat on the Leadership Team reporting to the various CEOs and the business grew to having 450 staff and $110m EBITDA per annum. Some of my highlights of these 12 amazing years include: • I convinced Fairfax management and Board in 1999 to break up “Fairfax Classifieds Online” and launch their sections as separate brands online. Domain is now valued at $2b. Strategic decisions like these can seem small, but they can actually determine the future success or failure of your business if you don’t get them right in the beginning. • Named “Internet Pioneer of the Year” in 2000 for developing and writing Australia’s first University accredited course in Internet Advertising for UTS and in 2002 was named one of the Top 10 Most Influential people in e-Marketing. • In 2003 I established from start-up, Fairfax Enterprises, a print and digital direct-selling and book publishing business that bridges the newspapers and Fairfax Digital. It grew from nothing to 10 staff and $2m profit in 2 years and remains to this day a significant part of Fairfax’s revenue. • Not long after we acquired RSVP.com.au in 2006 I was put in to get it in shape for integration into Fairfax Digital. We took the brand mainstream and set up better digital marketing KPIs and staffing and within 6 months we’d halved the cost of customer acquisition, while accelerating member numbers and revenue growth. • In 2007 I set up an SEO/SEM taskforce and mentored a team of search experts to share knowledge and optimise Fairfax’s multi-million dollar spend in this area. In my last 3 years at Fairfax Digital I ran Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions - scouting for companies for Fairfax Digital to build, invest in or acquire, meeting with literally hundreds of entrepreneurs in a multitude of different sectors learning something from each one as to how they started and grew their businesses, understanding and assessing their businesses models and studying their future growth strategies. It resulted in a number of mergers, acquisitions and start-ups for Fairfax and was an exhilarating experience. I then set up Foundry, a boutique VC that invested in pre-revenue ecommerce start-ups. After looking at dozens of pitches including sitting on the selection committee for Innovation Bay, we did four investments (2 failed, 1 we sold and 1 is still growing nicely) before I realised I wasn’t having any fun sitting on the sidelines. I needed to be in the driver’s seat of my own business. This brings me to Bondi Born. Bondi Born is a luxury swimwear brand that I started with my business partner, Glenn Parks (highly experienced in global sourcing, production and logistics), in 2015. In our first full year of operation, targeting the European market, we turned over $500k+ and the brand was hung on the racks of prestige retailers like Selfridges and Harrods. We are now in premium Department Stores and boutiques from Munich, Mykonos and Milan to Croatia, Cayman Islands and Cote d’Azur. Right now we are selling our yet to be released 2018 collection to retailers in 5 continents through 14 contracted agents. We have a website in three currencies, third party logistic warehouses on 4 continents and we are targeting $4m in revenue for the coming 12 months. The countless lessons I learned and training I received in my 20 years in corporate life have helped me to do this. I’m building a brand based on a distinct market position, we are using social media and sophisticated digital marketing techniques, I raised capital to accelerate our growth, I surrounded myself with experts in areas I had no knowledge of and have listened and learned from them. I have made mistakes and gone down wrong paths and quickly pivoted and optimised the direction. I have also learned an incredible amount in the past 2 ½ years about fashion (which I absolutely LOVE). Global sourcing of fabrics and trims, designing and manufacturing locally and in Asia and penetrating global retail markets along with the boring stuff like tax, logistics and trademarks. When I was asked by Belinda to join Top Expert I was reluctant given how long my days are now (and I have to find time for my two gorgeous children and long-suffering husband). But I thought about my own experience and how challenging the entrepreneurs journey can be and how valuable it would be to have someone you can reach out to for sage advice to help you cut through mistakes and save time and money. So here I am. And if I can help someone on their journey it would be an honour. What can the key things I think I can best help my fellow entrepreneurs with? • Brand Strategy • Brand Building (online + offline marketing) • Business Strategy • Business Planning • Starting-up • Start-up/Seed Funding • Growth Funding/Mergers / Acquisitions • Exits • Making the switch to being an entrepreneur • Entrepreneur mentoring • Female entrepreneurship • Global and local fashion sourcing and production • Global fashion retail (online + bricks and mortar) • Global fashion logistics for retail and ecommerce Complete confidentiality and integrity assured. I will give you honest, straight-shooting answers and advice and if I don’t think I can help you or I’m not the best person for what you need, I won’t proceed or waste either of our time.

Forbes 30 under 30, Telstra Young Business Women's Award 2017 In 2012, I launched OneShift on the back of a free blog, some posters, duck tap and an ipad. After the first month of it being live, it had 300 university students and several clubs using it. Within 6 months OneShift had over 10k users. OneShift received an investment of $5 million for 27.5% equity from Programmed (ASX: PRG) and who subsequently purchased it in 2016. More recently, I've launched Skilld.com, a dynamic online marketplace that instantly connects local talent to local businesses and also tamme.io an analytics and advertising platform for marketplaces. I'm heavily involved in the start-up and business community in Australia. I mentor for several schools, co-working spaces etc. and lead several women in bus/tech initiatives, including: 'Women In Tech Australia' and ‘LMBDW', which has over 50,000 members. I also work with City and State Government to increase awareness of start-ups, and to connect corporate companies for mentoring and investing initiatives with the wider aim to help Australian start-ups to think and grow globally. This is achieved through partnerships with Boston Consulting Group, Council of Small Business Australia (COSBOA) and I was recently named the youngest Sydney Chair for the Young Presidents Org (YPO).

Food developer, FMCG wholesaler and marketer, and small business mentor - over the past 10 years I’ve grown Slim Secrets from a small, family-run FMCG business into a global brand with world-wide distribution and brand recognition. Sold online and stocked in major Australian retailers including Coles, Woolworths, Chemist Warehouse, Priceline, 7Eleven and IGA. We also export to 15 countries around the world, are stocked in over 4,000 outlets and recently signed a distribution deal for China. The thing I've loved most about building our brand is being innovative with our marketing on a smaller budget than some of our larger competitors and building great relationships. I’m a big believer in influencer marketing and we’ve recently signed an ambassador deal with current world number one tennis champion Angelique Kerber, as well as Avril Lavigne targeted for the China market. Slim Secrets has a range of 21 healthy snacks including protein bars, cookies, low carb fit balls, RTD protein indulgence shakes, and a Protein Puds with chia dessert range. Each product is carefully developed to include the right balance of fats, carbohydrates, protein and fibre without compromising on taste, as well as ensuring they meet food regulations for our export markets. Whether you have an idea and need some guidance on where to start, or are a more established business looking for growth, I'm more than happy to chat and provide you with advice. Looking forward to hearing about your business.
