Natural and Organic Skincare Pioneer. Entrepreneur. Founder - Aromababy. Product Development. Exporter of 20 years. In 1994 I developed Aromababy - the world’s first specialist baby and mother skincare brand to combine the use of natural and organic ingredients with research. The launch of Aromababy created a new category in the Australian retail space and offered 'choice' in the type of baby care offered across maternity hospitals. In Australia Aromababy is sold online including with Myer and in retail stores including airport duty free chains and pharmacy groups such as National Pharmacies. The brand is also sold online and in stores across Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Aromababy is also used in select hospitals and sold to hotels and resorts, carving a niche for itself as a boutique, specialist brand for mother and baby with a 25 year heritage. I have worked on several external brands and independent product projects in the natural sector. I am a regular presenter and MC at events in China, Hong Kong and Australia in relation to accomplishing business across the Asian region. I have over 25 years experience in product development, exporting and building an award-winning brand. I hold a Diploma in Aromatherapy and am a trained Infant Massage Instructor. I regularly travel to Asia providing mother and baby wellness workshops to health professionals and consumers. I am a published freelance writer including on business, baby, beauty and travel and co-host a Melbourne breakfast radio show.
Over 15 years experience taking ideas off the back of a napkin to launching them globally. In 2003, I took a $20,000 loan turned it into a global business. The brand I built was called PetLoo & we manufactured and distributed a range of pet products globally. In 2013 the brand and company was acquired by PetSafe. You can read all about the story by Googling "Tobi Skovron, PetLoo, Inc Magazine", but it's your quintessential entrepreneur journey and with a happy ending to boot: researching an idea, taking out a loan, 2 years spent on R&D, scaling to the US, hustling, growing, eating cereal for dinner and negotiating a sale. After the sale, I stayed in the US and worked for the now parent company, as well as founding ZingyPet – a marketplace app for dog walking. The app won Silicon Beach 2015 Best Overall App, has 800+ dog walkers and 23,000 customers through out southern California. I came back to Australia end of 2016 and have since Co-Foundered CreativeCubes.Co with plans to scale it nationally. I'm passionate about the thriving community and want to positively impact the ecosystem. I invest in other startups, sit on a couple of Boards and love providing advice to other entrepreneurs who have the drive and determination to succeed. I can provide advice about business planning, strategy, user-experience design and delivery, go-to-market strategy, product dev and commercialisation, exporting, fund raising – the whole end-to-end business process. Here are just some of my experience and achievements: • Winner of Australian Entrepreneur of the Year Under the Age of 30 (2008) • Winner of Australian Pet Product of the Year (2006) • Winner of New Inventors, People’s Choice Award (2006) • Australian Institute of Export - TOP 50 (2007) • International Design Award (2008)
I am the founder of The Smoothie Bombs, a smoothie booster range that is vegan, certified organic, palm oil free and gluten free. I went from being a single parent on welfare to building a million dollar business from a simple home recipe. I bootstrapped through Smoothie Bomb's inception by being resourceful and determined on a coin purse budget. In 2007, I returned to study in my 40's to become a clinical nutritionist. In the process I discovered there was a need in the market for my home made smoothie boosters. As a mum, I believe in changing bad habits by making good choices easier. The Smoothie Bombs evolved after my fussy eating daughter stopped eating breakfast. My solution was to providing the right combination of healthy ingredients in a convenient and easy to use way. My products have gone from being hand made in my home kitchen to upscaling the production to hit manufacturing MOQs. I am stocked in over 800 stores around Australia including including Chemist Warehouse. I have stockists in UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Korea. International expansion is currently in progress. My expertise is in: • Bootstrapping a Start up • Branding • Social media • Food product development • Food regulations and council requirements • Organic certification guidelines • Finding and dealing with manufacturers • Distributor agreements • Negotiating with major retailers • Exporting processes Business life is always busy and certain times of the year may be more hectic than others for chats. I have set aside some allocated time for Thursday and Friday afternoons for appointments.
Food developer, FMCG wholesaler and marketer, and small business mentor - over the past 10 years I’ve grown Slim Secrets from a small, family-run FMCG business into a global brand with world-wide distribution and brand recognition. Sold online and stocked in major Australian retailers including Coles, Woolworths, Chemist Warehouse, Priceline, 7Eleven and IGA. We also export to 15 countries around the world, are stocked in over 4,000 outlets and recently signed a distribution deal for China. The thing I've loved most about building our brand is being innovative with our marketing on a smaller budget than some of our larger competitors and building great relationships. I’m a big believer in influencer marketing and we’ve recently signed an ambassador deal with current world number one tennis champion Angelique Kerber, as well as Avril Lavigne targeted for the China market. Slim Secrets has a range of 21 healthy snacks including protein bars, cookies, low carb fit balls, RTD protein indulgence shakes, and a Protein Puds with chia dessert range. Each product is carefully developed to include the right balance of fats, carbohydrates, protein and fibre without compromising on taste, as well as ensuring they meet food regulations for our export markets. Whether you have an idea and need some guidance on where to start, or are a more established business looking for growth, I'm more than happy to chat and provide you with advice. Looking forward to hearing about your business.
